The Basque cinema festival of Barcelona  Zinemaldia.Cat is back one more year with its eleventh edition, with the support of the Etxepare Basque Institute. The event, organized by the Euskal Etxea of Barcelona, will propose from 5 to 26 February a program focused on some values: quality, affordable prices and the possibility to go beyond the screenings. Thus, ZinemaldiaCat repeats the experience of inviting directors, actors, screenwriters or producers for the projections of movies, ensuring the interaction with the audience, while proposing an alternative program to the Official Sections.

The program of the Official Sections includes 12 films, most of them premiered in Catalonia and that in some cases have only been seen before at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. All of them can be seen in the Girona Cinema Halls of the capital. Among them, there are some prominent productions like Amama, Un otoño sin Berlín, Nola? or Gure Sorlekuen Bila.

On the other hand, the Euskal Etxea seeks to bring the festival beyond the screenings and to offer small discoveries to the Catalan audience. So, this year they will repeat the Alterzinemaldia, which includes an ensemble film of 26 Basque directors based on the fantasy genre, a video competition in Basque language and a cinema tour with the editor of Fotogramas Pere Vall .

Furthermore, the short films of Kimuak are included in the program, so viewers will discover new filmmakers thanks to this program of the Basque Film Archive. Finally kids will also enjoy the film festival with TXO!, the children´s area of the festival.
