Thanks to the agreement with the Etxepare Basque Institute, every year the CDN showcases Basque culture with the production and programming of a play. This year Los Gondra (una historia vasca), written by the Basque playwright Borja Ortiz de Gondra, will be on show at the Valle-Inclán theater until February 19. Through the story and disputes of the Gondra family, the play covers the last 100 years of history of the Basque Country. Basque choreographer Jon Maia and musician and composer Iñaki Salvador have also participated in this work.
On Monday 13th February theater lovers will have the opportunity of approaching this play in a different way. Kirmen Uribe and Borja Ortiz de Gondra will talk about exile, family sagas, self-fiction in their works or how the history of the Basque Country has been approached in literature. They will also read fragments of his last works: Los Gondra (una historia vasca) and The hour of waking together. The event will take place at 8:00 pm at the Valle-Inclán Theater and has been supported by the Basque Etxepare Institute.
