The Official Gazette of the Basque Country has published several calls for grants offered by the Etxepare Basque Institute, including grants for Basque literary translation. These grants will help local and foreign translators and publishing houses cover expenses for translating works written originally in Basque into other languages. The call is open until July 5.
This grant regime will support three kinds of translations. The first is translations into other languages of literary works written and published originally in Basque. The second is translations into other languages of short literary works (under 25,000 characters) written and published originally in Basque; these will serve as proposals for future translations. The third is translations into languages other than Basque of literary works originally written and published in Spanish by authors registered in the Basque Autonomous Community.
This grant will amount to a total of 39,000 euros. Submissions will be compared and ranked in accordance with the selection and assessment criteria established in the rules governing the call.
