The illustrator Elena Odriozola will receive a Golden Apple Award at the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (Slovakia) for the work she created for Mary Shelley´s Frankenstein  (Nordika Books, 2013). The nomination for the award was presented by Galtzagorri Elkartea, through the OEPLI. The Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava rewards the best international works and its awards are among the most prized and for professional illustrators. Odriozola will become the second Basque illustrator recognized with a Golden Apple, after Asun Balzola, who was awarded in 1985 for her creations for the book written by Bernardo Atxaga  Txitoen istorioa (Erein, 1984).

The awards ceremony will take place at the Slovak National Theatre  at 17:00 pm, and the artist from Donostia-San Sebastián will be present therein, with the support of the Etxepare Basque Institute. Elena Odriozola has been also awarded this year with the Spanish National Illustration Prize for the "capacity for renewal" and the "narrative potential” of her work.

Zorionak! Congratulations!
