Etxepare Basque Institute to name the Best Album in Basque at the MIN Awards
2023/02/09
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
Registration is now open for the various categories of the MIN Awards. Every year, the Etxepare Basque Institute announces the winner of the Best Album in Basque. Candidates may apply from 8 to 24 February.
The MIN Awards were launched 15 years ago to give upcoming artists exposure to new audiences, bring music closer to the public and promote creative activity. Since 2013, the Etxepare Basque Institute has awarded the best album in the Basque language (Euskara) to shine a spotlight on independent music in Basque.
The 15th edition is open to artists and independent record labels that have released albums, EPs or singles in 2022. In the category of best album in Basque, works published in Basque in 2022 will be eligible for entry. Record labels, music publishers, artists or management companies are invited to participate in the process via the MIN Awards website: premios MIN (in Spanish)
The terms and conditions for entering the category of Best Album in Basque can be found here: Las bases y el procedimiento. Following the 22 February registration deadline, a popular vote will be held in which the public can vote for the fifteen semi-finalists in each category. A professional jury will then narrow down the choices to five finalists from each category. The names of the finalists will be announced at a public event.
Previous editions of the MIN Awards have been held in Pamplona and Burgos. This year they will be held for the first time in Palma de Mallorca. The MIN Awards ceremony will be held on 17 May and the winning entries in all categories will be announced.
The awards were created in 2009 by Unión Fonográfica Independiente to expand artistic creation, encourage cultural diversity and talent, provide opportunities for productions of small and medium-sized music companies and promote independent music at the national and international level. In the 14th edition of the MIN Awards (2022), the award for the best album in Basque went to Kondaira eder hura by Verde Prato.
