The European Literature Night is a project organized by the Czech Centre in New York, in collaboration with the EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture).
Thanks to the participation of Etxepare Euskal Institutua in EUNIC NY as an associate member, the Basque writer Kirmen Uribe will present Basque literature in the contest.
Uribe will take part in the round table ‘The Past is Present’, together with Anna Frajlich (Poland), Lore Segal (Austria), Laima Vincė Sruoginis (Lituania), Kateřina Tučková (Czech Republic) and the moderator Sabir Sultan. He is the Associated Director of the Festivals ‘Voces del Mundo’ and ‘Programas Literarios’ of PEN America. At this meeting, the presenters will reflect on how they sometimes explore national archives, historical accounts and collective memory in their daily practice as writers and storytellers.
2 November, at 19:00 (GMT-04:00). Complete programme.
European Literature Night is one of the biggest projects of EUNIC New York. It is a unique opportunity to present contemporary authors through a series of public readings. The main purpose of this project is to increase public interest in contemporary European literature and to highlight the importance of multilingualism and translations of big and small languages.
