Julio Jimenez and Lena Białkowska have won the 22nd edition of the Korrika Munduan video competition

The 22nd edition of the Korrika ‘fun run’ aimed at promoting the Basque language will make its way through the streets of the Basque Country from Amurrio to San Sebastian, from 31 March to 10 April 10. The multitudinous annual event will also be celebrated in other parts of the world this year. Participants will include the universities in our network and Basque centres (Euskal Etxeak) around the world, some of which have also participated in the Korrika Munduan video competition. This year’s competition winners are Julio Jimenez from the Gure Txoko Basque Centre in Valladolid and Lena Białkowska from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.

In collaboration with AEK, has promoted Korrikas at universities in our network and in Basque Centres across the world. We have received messages of support from all over the world as well as video entries for our Korrika Munduan competition. The videos, which can be seen on the AEK YouTube channel, have been getting lots of ‘likes’ over the last few weeks.

This year, there were 12 entries from universities and Basque Centres in Europe, Asia and America. The two videos (one from each category) with the most ´likes´ (i.e., votes) will each receive an online Basque language immersion course for two organized by AEK.

The most-liked video from the university network was by Lena Białkowska from the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan while the most popular video from the Euskal Etxeak network was posted by Julio Jiménez from the Gure Txoko Basque Centre in Valladolid (I). Voting closed on March 28 (GMT +1).
