The Basque translation of the novel ´Austerlitz´ by German author W. G. Sebald will be presented in Leipzig and Berlin at two events organised by the Etxepare Basque Institute at the University of Leipzig and the Euskal Etxea Basque centre in Berlin.

On 27 April at 1:15pm the University of Leipzig will host the first of the two events with translator Idoia Santamaría Urkaregi and Lander Majuelo Itoiz of the Igela publishing house. The talk will be presented as part of the Spring Lecture Series organised by the Institute of Applied Linguistics and Translation Sciences (IALT). The event will be in German and can be followed online.

The second event will take place on 29 April at 7:30pm, together with the Euskal Etxea Basque centre in Berlin, at the Club der polnischen Versager. Uwe Schütt, the foremost expert on Sebald´s work, will join Idoia Santamaría, Lander Majuelo and Alain Urrutia, a Bilbao artist residing in Berlin. The cellist Mikel Elgezabal will provide music for the opening reading.

The following day, the Euskal Etxea will host an event to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the bombing of Gernika under the title ´Luftkrieg und Literatur´.
