Música|aɔisùM: Kukai Dantza

The Kukai Dantza dance troupe will perform ‘En-Contro’ as part of Música|aɔisùM, an iniciative spearheaded by L´Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Madrid with support from the Etxepare Basque Institute. In this year’s series of streamed concerts, Jon Maya´s dance company teamed up with Italian artists in working sessions in both Rome and Madrid.

Under the direction of Maya, the team includes the Kukai Dantza dance troupe, Alberto Morelli (musical creator) and Valentina Pedica (dancer). Together the artists have explored the relationship between the traditional rhythms of the Basque Country and Italy and how they can be rendered with a contemporary edge through contemporary dance and electro-acoustic music.

The final production, a video of approximately 15 minutes in length, will be available online on May 26th.

The audiovisual creator David Bernués is in charge of recording both events, one in Rome and the other in Madrid, and editing the content to create a spectacular audiovisual show. The two working sessions will use music previously created by the Italian composer Alberto Morelli.

This collaboration is part of a programme running from May 12th to  June 16th, which will include two other events. The full programme is available here.
