Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
The group Oreka TX won the Etxepare Award to the Best Album in Basque, for their last album, Silex, at the Independent Music Awards Ceremony held yesterday in Madrid.
The audience voted their favourite group among the finalists: “Astiro” (Urtz), “Beste Hogei” (Jabier Muguruza), “Hautsi…eta izan zaitez zu” (Damba), “Ken Zazpi & Euskadiko Orkestra Sinfonikoa” and “Silex” (Oreka Tx). The latter, with their txalaparta rythms, won the competition and Aizpea Goenaga, Director of the Etxepare Institute, gave them the award during the ceremony.
Silex compiles songs from the previous albums and focuses on the sound of the stone-made txalaparta. In this recording, the group had the collaboration of Basque groups Kalakan, Alos Quartet and We are Standard.
In the context of the whole competition, Guadalupe Plata was the favourite band, with awards in 4 categories.
The Independent Music Awards were created in 2009 to recognise the creation, the diversity and the artistic quality of the independent productions. Another goal of the prizes is to approach the music and the production process to the audience.
