Olatz Salvador will be taking part in the closing event of Suns Europe, the European festival of performing arts in minoritized languages, on 26th November at 9:00pm at Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine (Italy).
This year’s musical competition will feature six bands from six regions: Wales, Friuli, Karst, Drenthe, Sardinia and the Basque Country. Each will give a 15-minute performance, after which the festival jury and the public will vote and award prizes.
After several years with the band Skakeitan, Olatz Salvador released her first solo studio album, ´Zintzilik´, in 2018. In 2020 she released the single ´Euria´, and in 2021, her second studio album, ´Aho Uhal´.
Massimo Silverio, Violoncelli Itineranti, Rick Hilberts and Ealûs will also take to the Teatro Nuovo Giovanni stage alongside Olatz Salvador.
Suns Europe started in 2009 in Friuli, the multilingual heart of Europe, as a music contest for minority languages (a term for languages that are denied the possibility of being used normally and equally in all areas of everyday life) in Alpine-Mediterranean Europe. The festival has now developed into a place of encounter and exchange between artists of minoritized language groups in Europe. The event is a chance for these communities to become aware of their linguistic rights and the importance of cultural diversity as a heritage, a right and an opportunity.
