Tabakalera presents the institutional initiatives that will form the cultural ecosystem

The San Sebastian International Film Festival, the Etxepare Basque Institute, Zineuskadi, the Basque Film Archive (Filmoteca Vasca) and Kutxa Foundation are the institutions that will form part of the cultural ecosystem of Tabakalera.

The old tobacco factory in Donostia reopens on Friday September 11 as an International Centre for Contemporary Culture. The building of 37.000m2, in addition to hosting  the cultural project of Tabakalera, will also host various institutional and private initiatives that will form what we call the cultural ecosystem.

The ecosystem is an area of relationship, trying to keep the balance of a living place for people. In this case, the objective will be to strengthen the creative community and to promote opportunities for the collaboration and relationship between the different agents and the audience. Thus, they have defined a map of projects that complements itself and generates an ambitious and diverse cultural practice throughout the territory.

The opening of the building will be staggered. First of all, some spaces of the cultural projects will be opened, and during the autumn months the cultural projects and initiatives that will live together in Tabakalera will be integrated into the building.
