The Basque ilustrator Maite Gurrutxaga, at the ´18th Salon of Children´s and Youth of Rio de Janeiro´

Thanks to the agreement signed between the Basque Institute Etxepare and Galtzagorri Elkartea, the Basque illustrator Maite Gurrutxaga has participated in the 18th Salon of Children´s and Youth of Rio de Janeiro (18º Salao FNLIJ do libro para Crianças e Jovens). The illustrator is part of the ´Cartele´ collection created by OEPLI (Spanish Organization for Children´s Book), where she participates with other artists.
The titles selected for this exhibition show a small sample of the vast territory that covers the creation of children´s literature. The linguistic diversity of the country, the plurality of genres and themes, a full range of ages, the wealth of styles as well as the anniversary celebrating the most universal Spanish author, Miguel de Cervantes, have reflection in this collection of more than three hundred titles published.
The collection invites visitors to follow the footsteps that mark the progress made in the recent years by publishing books for children and young readers, open routes for a generation of writers and illustrators feeding a constantly expanding universe, characterized by quality and variety of its textual and plastic.
