The Euzko Etxea, or Basque cultural centre, of San Nicolas, Argentina, will pay tribute to Eresoinka’s on the choir’s 80th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, a concert will be performed as part of the Argentinian Basque Centres’ choral meeting on November 10th. Basque musician Mikel Urdangarin will give a concert in homage to the choir, which will also feature live performances from his latest album Margolaria.

Eresoinka was started in Sara, Lapurdi, in 1937 as a mixed choir of 110 Basque artists in exile. The choir will be now honoured in the framework of National Basque Week organized annually in Argentina. National Basque Week is one of the biggest Basque events in the diaspora, and this year will be held for the first time at the Euzkal Etxea in San Nicolas.

The program will run from November 6 to 12, and will feature cultural activities of all kinds, including cinema, music and dance. The choral meeting will be held on the 10th at the Rafael de Aguiar Municipal Theatre. Groups from Buenos Aires (Euskaltzaleak), Villa María, Viedma-Patagones, Cañuelas and San Nicolas will each pay tribute to Eresoinka on the 80th anniversary of the choir´s founding. A documentary on the Basque choir will also be screened, followed by a recital by musicians Michel Etcheverry, Mikel Urdangarin and Xabaltx.
