The performing arts fair dFERIA will start today -march 6- in Donostia, and will last until March 9. With the support of the Etxepare Basque Institute and within the project Aquitaine.eus, the theatre play Soka of Tanttaka Teatroa and Victoria Eugenia Theatre will be subtitled into English and French.
This will facilitate the promotion of the play, as foreign programmers will be able to see and distribute it in their countries of origin in Basque language with subtitles. For example, there will be programmers from the region of Aquitaine attending the premiere of the play.
Soka will be released on March 9 at 13:00 at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre. The starting point of the plot is the following one: a gymnastics teacher finds the body of a child hanged at the gym. The teacher feels guilty about the death, and marginalized by his closest circle, he will seek and reflect the lines between blame and responsibility.
In addition, the collaboration between the Etxepare Basque Institute and dFERIA will be stronger this year with the initiative dFERIA Abroad: there will be two new Basque windows in Uruguay (International Festival of the Arts FIA) and in Montevideo (Verdi Theatre), with the aim of promoting and advertising the work of the Basque professionals.
As it has been pointed out, this collaboration is located in the framework of Aquitaine.eus, a project created by the Euroregion Aquitaine Euskadi, , the Etxepare Basque Institute and Euskal Kultur Erakundea-Institut Culturel Basque. Through this agreement the signatory institutions commit themselves to work together in two ways: firstly, they include works by Basque artists from both sides of the border at festivals and events of Aquitaine, in different disciplines; on the other, they promote relations and cross-border cooperation between creators and agents of Aquitaine and Euskadi.
