This year, 44 projects have been submitted, 20 more than last year. Five of them are directed by Basques and two projects have been selected for presentation to audiovisual professionals of the Ile-de-France region of Paris: “Espárrago” by Julio Mazarico (En Buen Sitio Producciones based in Iruña, Nafarroa, and “La hora de despertarnos juntos” by Asier Altuna (Txintxua Films, in Donostia-San Sebastián. Altuna was also selected last year with the Kilger project.
The Parisian restaurant "Le Patio Opéra" will host a work lunch in which the selected films will be presented to audiovisual professionals from Spain and the Ile-de-France region. In this way, the sale and distribution of these projects at the French level will be promoted and facilitated.
The Commission du Film d´Île-de-France and the association Espagnolas en París work together to organize this event, in collaboration with Variety magazine, and with support from Catalan Films & TV, the Etxepare Basque Institute, La Axencia Galega das Industrias Culturais (AGADIC), and the the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA).
This edition follows in the steps of earlier previous meetings organized by the Commission du Film d´Ile-de France and Espagnolas in Paris, brought together industry professionals from the two countries for Catalan projects (2008), genre films (2009), and films from the Madrid region shot in third countries (2010). Since 2011 "Small is biútiful" has focused on supporting independent productions of auteur films.
