A conference of Chris Maccabe at the Manuel Irujo Chair, in Liverpool

Within the Manuel Irujo Chair, they have organized a conference today at 2 pm, by The Institute of Irish Studies, the University of Liverpool, in association with the department of Modern Languages and Cultures, and with the support of the Etxepare Basque Institute.
The conference entitled "Securing the Peace: Reflections on the Resolution of Conflict in Northern Ireland, the Basque Country and Sri Lanka" will be led by Chris Maccabe, the former Political Director of the Northern Ireland Office and the former British Joint Secretary of the British Irish Intergovernmental Conference.
Macabbe is currently an International Verification Commissioner in Spain, monitoring ETA´s ceasefire, and the Minister of Justice´s assessor of the government´s agreement with dissident republican prisoners in Northern Ireland. He is also Chair of Belfast Conflict Resolution Consortium and a director of the Centre for Democracy and Peace Building.
