Who we are
Who we are
Since 2010, we have been working to enhance the international presence and visibility of the Basque language and contemporary Basque creativity, to promote international cooperation and to foster exchange and communication between creators, professionals, stakeholders and public institutions.
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
Our mission
We are convinced that language, culture and creation are among a country´s greatest assets. In collaboration with local and foreign stakeholders, we promote the Basque language, culture and creation at the international level in an effort to build solid relationships with other countries and cultures, thereby creating new opportunities.
To this end, we facilitate information on Basque culture, promote international cultural exchanges and quality artistic activities, and encourage mobility of creators, artists and professionals in the sector, as well as teaching Basque language and culture.
We promote collaboration in the areas of culture and academia with international partners (universities, cultural entities, festivals, art centres, etc.), working closely with the Basque delegations abroad.
The Etxepare Basque Institute is a public institution. In 2007, the Basque Parliament approved the law that creates and regulates the Institute, which was launched in 2010. Since then, we have worked to enhance the international presence and visibility of the Basque language and contemporary Basque creativity, to promote international cooperation and to foster exchange and communication between creators, professionals, stakeholders and public institutions.
