The Kimuak 2019 Basque short film catalogue will travel again this year to the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The competition will be held from January 31 to February 8 and will again feature the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market from February 3 to 6, where the Basque short films will also be present.

The Kimuak programme has been selecting the best works among Basque short films for 22 years, creating a catalogue of seven films as an example of the talent of our land. Each year, the programme is responsible for taking the selected catalogue to various festivals and fairs around the world. Clermont-Ferrand has been an essential stop every year.

These are the selected works in the 2019 Kimuak Catalogue: Artiko by Josu Venero and Jesus Mari Lazkano; El infierno by Raúl de la Fuente; Labo by Jesús María Palacios; Leyenda dorada by Chema García Ibarra and Ion de Sosa; Lursaguak. Escenas de vida by Izibene Oñederra; Mateoren ama by Jose Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi; and Medvedek by Ainhoa Gutiérrez del Pozo. You can find all the information about these short films here.

The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival is one of the most important in the field of short films worldwide. Every year the festival also features a short film fair, visited by programmers, buyers, schools and institutions from all over the world. The Kimuak catalogue will be available at the “Shorts from Spain” stand managed by the ICAA (Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts), along with various programmes and catalogues from other regions in Spain.

A Basque short film outside the Kimuak catalogue will also take part in the Official Selection of the Clermont-Ferrand Festival: Un Coche Cualquiera (An ordinary car), directed by David P. Sañudo and produced by Amania Films. You can view the trailer here.
