Conferences about musical tradition and European modernism in Cairo

Under the title Heritage & Modernity, the European-Egyptian Contemporary Music Society (EECMS) has organized several conferences in Cairo, in April 11-14.
The aim of this project is to reflect on the relationship between musical tradition and European modernism, and to put special attention on cultural heritage from an artistic and socio-political perspective.
Among other international musicians, the composer and txistulari (txistu-player) Jagoba Astiazaran will give a talk about the txistu and its technical composition today, April 12, at the Ewart Memorial Hall of Cairo.
