Koldo Mitxelena and Eduardo Chillida Chairs academic programs start in Chicago and Frankfurt

The Koldo Mitxelena Chair academic program kicked off yesterday at the University of  Chicago, and the first of the two seminars included this year in the Eduardo Chillida Chair program at the University of Frankfurt will begin on Thursday.


The Koldo Mitxelena Chair (University of Chicago) aims to disseminate the Basque Studies in America. This year the University of the Basque Country professor Miren Azkarate will teach an investigation course (May 5 - June 6), devoted to the research in linguistic policies and plans for the promotion of the Basque language. The Eduardo Chillida Chair (Goethe Universität , Frankfurt ) was created to promote the teaching of the Basque Arts. The present  program has been designed by Jonathan Wood , project coordinator of the Henry Moore Institute and professor at the University of Leeds. Her will take the work of Chillida as starting point, in a program aimed to analyze the contemporary sculpture and the places and spaces it occupies. Two workshops and an open conference (May 8 - June 27) will be offered. Learn more .
