Marina Otero Verzier has a PhD in architecture and is the Director of Research at the Het Nieuwe Instituut (the Dutch National Museum for Architecture, Design and Digital Culture, and the National Architecture Archive) in Rotterdam and the Director of the Social Design Master’s Course at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. Among her museum projects, she has curated the Dutch Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale Exhibition, the 2016 Oslo Architecture Triennale and the 13th Shanghai Biennale in 2021. Marina previously directed Studio-X GSAPP, a global network of research centres that focus on the future of cities, with offices in Amman, Beijing, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Mumbai, New York, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo, and run by Columbia University. Marina has co-edited Unmanned: Architecture and Security Series (2016), After Belonging (2016), Work, Body, Leisure (2018), Architecture of Appropriation (2019), I see that I see what you don´t see (2020), More-than-Human (2020), Dixit #2 A Matter of Data and Lithium: States of Exhaustion (2021). She has also taught at ETSA Madrid, the Royal College of Art, London, Columbia University GSAPP, New York, Barnard College, New York, the Geneva University of Art and Design, among others.
