The Basque company  Tanttaka Teatroa received yesterday in Madrid the Max Award to the Best Theatre Production or Private Company for its stage plays "Soinujolearen semea” and "Komunikazioa / Inkomunikazioa". Accepting the award on behalf of Tanttaka , Fernando Bernués highlighted the great efforts that the theater companies must make today and claimed the presence of culture in the public sphere: " I believe that the distance between surviving and living is called culture and I am surprised that there are people who try to ignore it constantly; it is up to us to make that task difficult."

With the Max Award in his hand, Bernués wanted to thank "so many people that makes beeing at the rehearsal room a privilege," and most especially to his fellow travelers Mireia Gabilondo and Kike Díaz de Rada. He also had words of gratitute for Arriaga (Bilbao), Victoria Eugenia (Donostia- San Sebastian) and  Principal (Vitoria –Gasteiz)  theaters, "for turning the public space into meeting place  ."

Tanttaka Teatroa , a company created in 1982 , had already won two Max Awards earlier: 15 years ago it was awarded with the Max to the Best Theatrical Adaptation for the play "El Florido Pensil", and five editions ago with the Max to Revelation Show thanks to the work "Hnuy illa”, created together with the Kukai Dantza company.

The Max Awards annually recognize the best scenic works of the year in Spain. The work most awarded this year has been “Un trozo invisible de este mundo”, byJuan Diego Botto, with four awards .
