The music festival Euskadi Suena…en Madrid opens today with a concert of the group Oreka TX in the Clamores concert hall. The concert series of this festival that aims to raise awareness of the Basque culture and music will come to an end on November 20. This is a project created by Emankor Sarea, with the collaboration of the Etxepare Basque Institute and La Noche en Vivo.
In this first edition it has a very varied program; the groups that are taking part on the festival are: Oreka Tx, Willis Drummond (October 17, Wurlitzer Ballroom), Jainko Txiki eta Jostalari Hura -Mikel Urdangarin, Kirmen Uribe, Rafa Rueda, Bingen Mendizabal and Mikel Valverde - (October 31, Bogey Jazz), Travellin´Brothers (November 14, El Sol), Tania de Sousa (November 14, Juglar) and Ainara LeGardon (November 20, Siroco).
In addition, you can also enjoy the exhibition Azaletatik Sustraietara (From the skin to the roots), from 22 October to 5 November. This exhibition is the second phase of a project with the same name; the first phase was the publication of a book about the last 50 years of Basque music and covers, with interviews of many artists, musicians and writers. The exhibition shows a journey through the past five decades of music through their covers. It is complemented by a video that summarizes in a few minutes the milestones that have marked each decade. It will be on display at Café La Palma.
The festival wants to promote and disseminate our music scene both in the Basque Country and in Madrid, as well as to create a space for communication, participation and meeting between artists from both territories
