World Poetry Day 2023: Hedoi Etxarte

On 20 and 21 March, author Hedoi Etxarte will take part in the World Poetry Day activities organised by Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia and Università di Bologna. Etxepare Basque Institute language lecturer Iñaki Alfaro, and Paula Marqués from the Institut Ramon Llull, will lead the session in partnernship with the two universities.

At Università Ca ´Foscari Venezia, an all-day programme, ‘Giornata mondiale della poesia – Intorno al Corpo, cultura catalana e basca´, will take place on 20 March at the university’s Sala B Ca´ Bernardo. The event will be held in Basque, Catalan, Italian and Spanish. Lecturers Iñaki Alfaro and Paula Marqués will introduce the first session of the day, dedicated to Basque poetry, with a poetry reading by Hedoi Etxarte featuring poems from his work ´Sortaldekoak´.

At 14:30, Alfaro and Marqués will offer a workshop on poetry creation.

On 21 March, poets Hedoi Etxarte and Anna Gual will offer a poetry reading at Università di Bolonia in Giunta Hall. They’ll be joined by writer and translator Jaume C. Pons Alorda at 13:45. You can access the full programme here.
