In September 2015 it will be 400 years since the slaying of 32 Basque whalers in Iceland. To remember this incident, an international academic conference was held last April in Iceland. That event has now a continuation in a one-day meeting that will take place at the Aquarium of Donostia on 17 July. Throughout the morning, the experts Michael Barkham, Alvaro Aragón, Xabier Irujo, Ricardo Etxepare, Aurelie Arcocha and Mari Jose Olaziregi will offer a series of lectures; in the afternoon a book and an exhibition on the slaughter will be presented.

The conference has been organized by the Center for Basque Studies of the University of Nevada, Reno, and the Euskal-Islandiar Adiskidetza association, with the support of the Aquarium of Donostia and the Etxepare Basque Institute. The access will be free.
