This year marks the 12th edition of the Independent Music Awards and the public vote is open until 10 February. The names of the artists registered this year have recently been announced, and among them, 11 Basque artists will compete for the Best Album in Basque.

The public vote is the first stage in the competition. The public will choose semifinalists from each category. A specialized jury will then choose five nominees for each award, and the winners from each category will be announced at the award ceremony on 11 March at the Teatro Circo Price in Madrid.

The MIN Awards embrace a wide range of categories, from musical style (Best Jazz album, Best Rock album, Best Flamenco album…) to language (Best album in Catalan, Best album in Basque, Best album in Galician), in addition to more generic categories like Best artist, Best album and Best live performance. Once again the Etxepare Basque Institute will sponsor the Etxepare Award for Best Album in Basque.

Here are the artists competing for the Best Album in Basque: Doctor Deseo, En Tol Sarmiento, Eñaut Elorrieta, Estitxu, Lukiek, Maite Larburu, Niña Coyote eta Chico Tornado, Serious Business, Topa-K, Zea Mays and Zetak.Cast your vote for your favorite nominees in this and other categories here.

Organized by the Unión Fonográfica Independiente (Independent Phonographic Union) in 2009, the MIN Awards celebrate the creation, diversity and artistic quality of independent music produced in Spain.
