The Etxepare  Basque Institute and Laboral Kutxa have started a new line of collaboration with the aim of promoting  Basque language and culture outside our territory. Thanks to the first agreement signed for this purpose,  they have created the Etxepare- Laboral Kutxa Translation Prize.

The aim of this joint initiative is to offer a prize for the translation of a literary work originally published in Basque language; the two entities seek to encourage and promote the translation and publication of literature in Basque language through the world.

The recognition shall be granted under the quality of the translation and the editorial promotional planning. For this reason, the 4000 euros prize will be shared between the publisher and the author of the translation equally.  In addition, the award recipients can receive up to 2000 euros to attend the award ceremony or to continue with the promotion.

The works likely to be submitted must be translations of a literary work originally written and published in Basque and published in 2014. Translators, publishers or any other natural or legal developer of the field of literature or translation can apply for registration. The announcement of the award was published today in the BOPV (Basque Official Bulletin) and the deadline is opened from June 17 to July 1 of 2015.

This new award joins other lines of work of the Etxepare Basque Institute in translation, such as the annual call for aids for translation or Itzultzaile Berriak project, promoted this year with Donostia 2016.
