AKITANIA.EUS, new program dedicated to Basque music in the cultural center Le Rocher de Palmer in Bordeaux

Following the agreement signed in 2014 between the Etxepare Basque Institute, Euskal Kultur Erakundeaand Le Rocher de Palmer,  the latter, a renowned cultural center of Bordeaux, has  inserted in its annual activities AKITANIA.EUS, a new program specifically dedicated to the Basque culture, and more particularly to the Basque music. The activities will take place in Spring and Autumn of 2015 and will include music workshops, an exhibition and several concerts, in addition to literary recitals.

The Spring program begins this week, with several traditional Basque music workshops that will be offered by Juan Mari Beltran. The Basque musician and researcher impart these courses from ing, March 12 to March 15. The workshops have been organized for the general public that attends Le Rocher de Palmer, but also for children, in a bid for school groups has been organized in parallel.

In March, moreover, the txalaparta will be the instrument of the month in the cultural center of Bordeaux, which will dedicate an exhibition to the instrument. In addition, for a week other Basque folk instruments, brought by Juan Mari Beltran from his museum, Soinuenea,  will also be shown  - flutes, ttun-ttun,  albokas ... -.

The Spring program also includes two concerts, one by Juan Mari Beltran in trio format on 16 march a 7:30 pm, and the concert by the group Kalakan,   on May 29 ata 8:30 pm.

The activities planned for Autumn will start in November. The center will schedule a concert of a Basque group of jazz, and,  together will the Bordeaux Literature Fair Literature,  they also plan to organize Basque literature recitals.
