Basque Artist Asier Mendizabal will participate in a workshop as part of the E. Chillida Chair in Basque Studies

The Goethe University of Frankfurt has organized a workshop as part of the Eduardo Chillida Chair of Basque Studies. On July 6th and 7th, a series of talks, forums, debates and will be offered as complementary activities to the 2018 academic program. One of the participants will be the Basque artist Asier Mendizabal.

The Goethe University of Frankfurt has organized a workshop as part of the Eduardo Chillida Chair of Basque Studies. On July 6th and 7th, a series of talks, forums, debates and will be offered as complementary activities to the 2018 academic program. One of the participants will be the Basque artist Asier Mendizabal.

On Friday, July 6th, Asier Mendizabal will give a talk entitled "Inflexion. A case from the belated Basque avant-garde". Mendizabal will discuss the contribution of Basque art to the debate around contemporary art. He will also talk about the field of plastic arts.

The talks will revolve around the use and integration of different materials and the relationship between current and traditional sculptures, with the Assemblage concept as the pivotal point. The aim is to explore the day-to-day relationship of society or societies in the creative process.

The Eduardo Chillida Chair, established in 2013 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt, aims to promote specialized study and research devoted to Basque art. The 2018 program was taught by Tobias Voght, expert in theory and history of contemporary art.
