Basque film "Loreak", candidate to compete at the Oscar Awards!

The Spanish Film Academy announced today the three candidates to represent Spain at the Oscars and one of them is the film in Basque language Loreak by Jose Mari Goenaga and Jon Garaño. It will compete with Magical Girl, winner of the Golden Shell at the last edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, and Felices 140, the work of Gracia Querejeta, to walk on the red carpet of the most famous film awards.
Actors Jesus Castro and Adriana Ugarte announced today the three films shortlisted to represent Spain for the prize of the best foreign language film. As Antonio Resines, president of the Academy, announced, the final decision will be published on September 29 on the final selection of the members of the Academy of Hollywood.
Loreak was the first film shot entirely in Basque language that has competed in the official section of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, and since it was released last year it has achieved great success: the film has won several awards, including the best film Award at the Film Festival of Siberia, the best Latin film in Palm Springs or the Sant Jordi Award for the best Spanish film. It has also participated in festivals around the world: they will be at the Spanish Film Festival of Edinburgh soon, along with 80 egunean.
On September 29 we will know if Basque cinema will have the opportunity to travel to Hollywood. Zorionak to all the finalists!
