Basque. Music. to take part in leading professional fairs in coming weeks

The platform ‘Basque. Music.’ will have an online presence (Womex and Monkey Week) and in-person presence (BIME PRO and Fira Trovam) in international fairs for music professionals held between October and November.

WOMEX 2020

The first event is Womex 20, initially planned to be held in Budapest but which will go virtual this year. Xabi Aburruzaga is the artist selected to take part in the Basque. Music. showcase, organized to promote the music of the Basque Country. Xabi Aburruzaga´s concert will be available online via the the Womex streaming platform on October 21st. In this way the trikitilari will take over from Juan Mari Beltran, Kalakan and Topa-K, who headed the showcases in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively.

BIME PRO

BIME PRO will be a combination online and in-person event from October 26th to 29th. The first two days will be online meetings, while Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 will be held in person at the Euskalduna Conference Centre and Concert Hall in Bilbao.

Verde Prato, Dupla and Bulego will be the ambassadors of the Basque. Music. initiative in BIME PRO. Basque Music is sponsoring this showcase to promoting artists from the Basque Country. The three artists were chosen for a joint performance as part of BIME City, which will take place on Thursday, October 29th (8:00 pm), at BBK Aretoa. In previous editions, the groups selected were Melenas and Los Brazos (2017), Nerabe and Meridian (2018) and Grande Days, Liher and Joseba Irazoki eta Lagunak (2019).

In BIME Pro, aimed at industry professionals, Basque. Music. will sponsor an online session of speedmeetings on Monday October 26th exclusively for Basque professionals. On the afternoon of March 28th, a welcome cocktail will take place and on October 28th and 29th a space will be available at the fair for Basque professionals to show their work to other professionals.

There will also be two panel: on October 27th ´Live Arts living together with COVID-19´, in collaboration with MIE, and on October 28th ´Concert halls and COVID-19´, in collaboration with Kultura Live.

FIRA TROVAM

The Fira Trovam de Castellón will be held from November 11th to 14th. This will be the first time for Basque. Music. at the Fira. The Basque Music showcase will feature a performance by Zetak. In addition, on the morning of November 14th there will be a presentation of the Basque Music platform.

MONKEY WEEK

The next edition of Monkey Week will be held on November 17th and 22nd. This Seville-based event will be held online in 2020. Basque. Music. will have a virtual showcase featuring Verde Prato and Plágaros.
