Basque. Playlist. #2 - Ezpalak
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
Ezpalak was formed in 2019 when four musicians from other groups (Voltaia, Los Moths and Grises) decided to join forces: Juanjo Berasain (vocals), Eñaut Gaztañaga (guitar), Unai Eizagirre (bass) and Janardana Iglesias (drums). Their passion for alternative rock bands from the 90s brought them together to embark on a musical venture. The name ‘Ezpalak’ means “the splinters”, in a nod to their relationship with the musical influence that gave rise to the group and their own style.
The band has released three albums, all in Basque: ‘Ezpalak’ (2019), ‘Kolpatu Topatu’ (2021) and ‘Hortz aina hots´ (2022). The fuzz sound and the powerful riff, added to the punk tone and melodic vocal mix complete the band´s discography and style.
Ezpalak has succeeded in becoming the benchmark of Basque alternative rock music in recent years. They have garnered recognition from both mainstream media and the public, showcasing their talent in live performances, on the set of “Los conciertos de Radio 3” and at festivals such as Bilbao BBK Live and Westway Lab.
