Basque poetry has taken part at the Transpoesie festival, with the writer Itxaro Borda

The TRANSPOESIE poetry festival has been organised for the fifth consecutive year by EUNIC Brussels, the European Union National Institutes for Culture based in the Belgian capital. Basque poetry has been represented at the festival by the author Itxaro Borda, who has come to Brussels with the support of Etxepare Basque Institute. The Institute is a member of the EUNIC network since January 2015.
It officially begins at the end of September, marking the European Day of Languages on 26 September. This year, no fewer than 24 countries have joined together to offer the population of Brussels a selection of poems in their original languages (20 languages in total), with translations in French and Dutch.
Itxaro Borda recited some of her poems in Basque language, in a session moderated by Gudrun De Geyter, along with other international poets: Ida Bördel, Tonnus Oosterhoff, Eiríkur Örn Norddahl and Laurence Vielle.
