The event “En el umbral de la primavera / Poesiaren udaberria”, held in the University of Milan on March 24 and coordinated by Danilo Manera, has achieved remarkable success. More than 200 students and 30 teachers and Italian experts took part in the events.

This year, the Milanese spring poetic program wanted to give special importance to  Basque literature, not only through the participation of the poet Rikardo Arregi, but also with Iñaki Alfaro’s conference on bertsolaritza and Basque singer-songwriters, and reading classics in Basque and Italian (B.Etxepare, G. Aresti, A. and B. Atxaga Urretabizkaia). They made several translations for the event, and Roberta Gozzi, principal translator of Basque literature into Italian, also attended the conference.

This event has been organized with the support of the University of Milan, the cultural office of the Embassy of Spain in Italy, the Cervantes Institute in Milan and the Etxepare Basque Institute; and also thanks to the contribution of teachers and students of the University of Milan, who also recited poems in Italian and explained their gorgeous interest in poetry.

This year the Milanese athenaeum has opened a new program, coordinated by Professor Danilo Manera, entitled "Basque, Catalan and Galician Literature", that has been enthusiastically received by Italian students. The Basque language section is in charge of Professor Nora Santamaria Iribar, Donostiako Sustapena / Fomento de San Sebastián scholarship holder.
