June Crespo takes part in the 18th Lyon Biennale

June Crespo (Pamplona, 1982) will take part in the 18th Lyon Biennale, with the support of Etxepare Euskal Institutua. One of the leading international contemporary art events will run from 19 September to 13 December. Crespo’s participation is part of ZABAL, Etxepare Euskal Institutua’s programme supporting the internationalisation of contemporary Basque creation.

Her participation is also linked to Ça colle au basque, an initiative aimed at strengthening the presence and visibility of Basque culture across the French-speaking world.

June Crespo

Sculpture is June Crespo’s main field of practice, through which she explores the relationships between the body, architecture and matter.

Throughout her career, she has presented solo exhibitions at institutions including the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, CA2M, Artium Museoa, the Vienna Secession, Le Crédac in Ivry-sur-Seine, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin and Kunsthalle Lissabon. In 2022, she also took part in The Milk of Dreams, the central exhibition of the 59th Venice Biennale.

Lyon Biennale

The Lyon Biennale was established in 1991 and is one of France’s leading contemporary art events, as well as an established international fixture. Each edition brings together artists from different countries and presents exhibitions across a range of venues in Lyon and the surrounding area.

Curated by Catherine Nichols, the 18th edition is entitled Passer d’un rêve à l’autre and takes the idea of passage as its starting point, drawing inspiration from Lyon’s traboules.
