The event “Buenos Aires Celebra” takes place annually in the capital of Argentina, near the Plaza de Mayo, in order to provide an opportunity for groups of diverse backgrounds living in the city to publicize and disseminate their culture. This year the Basque community has had the chance to star in this festival for the third time, and, as in previous editions, the Basque etxea Laurak Bat has become the main organizer, with the support of the Federación de Entidades Vasco Argentinas (FEVA), the Delegation of the Basque Country in Argentina-Mercosur and other Basque city centers in the area.

Although the weather was not very nice on May 11th, the festival attracted a large audience that enjoyes the concerts, dances and activities organized on the street and in the tents and stages set up on the Avenida de Mayo. With the desire to support to the celebration and to enjoy it the Delegate of the Basque Country in Argentina-Mercosur, Sara Pagola and the director of the Etxeapre Basque Institute Aizpea Goenaga attended the event, together with Basque writer Toti Martinez de Lezea –who was in Argentina to participate in the Book Fair of Buenos Aires and deliver a series of lectures-, and also the music band from Donostia-San Sebastian La Oreja de Van Gogh , on tour in South America, whose presence raised much expectation.
