Exams to certify the level of Basque in Madrid and Barcelona

Part of the Etxepare Basque Institute’s efforts to promote the Basque language include organising exams to certify the level of language competence and command in colaboration with HABE. The Etxepare Basque Institute organises tests outside the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country to accredit the language level of Basque for students at Basque centers. Exams are held every year in Madrid and Barcelona, and periodically in Argentina.
Students in Madrid and Barcelona sat the B1, B2 and C1 level Basque language exams for 2022-2023 as part of the Euskara Munduan programme. A total of three people have obtained level B1 certificate, one in Barcelona and three in Madrid. Four people have obtained level B2 certificate, one in Barcelona and three in Madrid. On the other hand, five people have obtained level C1 certificate, one in Barcelona and four in Madrid.
The Etxepare Basque Institute’s Euskara Munduan programme aims to raise the level of Basque language proficiency among Basque communities around the world. It promotes training for Basque language teachers and provides aid and resources for Basque instruction at Basque centres, which are often responsible for the difficult taks of training their own teaching staff.
