Fringe Festival, Dance Base 2024: Macarena Recuerda Shepherd

Edinburgh Fringe Festival is one of the largest and most important cultural events in the world. It is held annually in Edinburgh, Scotland, throughout the month of August, alongside the Edinburgh International Festival. As part of the festival, the international art fair Dance Base is held at the same time. It is a very important platform for artists, both for visibility and for the opportunity to network with international cultural agents, but companies need to make a significant economic effort and have good organization to achieve visibility.

The Etxepare Basque Institute, in collaboration with ADDE, the Basque association of dance professionals, extended a call to Basque professional dance companies to participate in the 2024 Fringe Festival, which will be held from August 5 to 12 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The result of this call is the participation of Macarena Recuerda Shepherd. She will present her work ´The Watching Machine´ at Dance Base.

She will perform daily at 17:15 from August 6 to 11. ‘The Watching Machine´ is the second piece in a trilogy about illusionism. It is a piece composed of small installations where light and shadows are fictionalized through optical illusions.
