From 23 to 26 June, the Cervantes Institute in Rome will host a series of films, which will include, among others, ´918 gau´ directed by Arantza Santesteban. The screening will take place on 26 June at 9:30pm in Basque, with support from the Etxepare Basque Institute. The rest of the films will be in Galician, Catalan, and Spanish.
Arantza Santesteban´s 2017 documentary tells how she was arrested on 4 October 2007 and taken to prison. After spending 918 nights behind bars, Arantza was released. At that point, she recorded her memories and fears on a tape recorder, which unfold throughout the film in the form of a fragmented memory.
The other films on the roster include ´O que arde´ by Oliver Laxe; ´A este lado del mundo´ by David Trueba; and ´Els dies que vindran´ by Carlos Marqués-Marcet. The full programme can be found here.
