Artists Jaime de los Ríos and Mikel Otxoteko will present at MUNTREF – Museo de la Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero in Buenos Aires the projects developed as part of the EAS-EZE programme. Both exhibitions will open on 4 October 2026 at MUNTREF – Hotel de Inmigrantes.
The two artists selected for EAS-EZE 2026 will present the results of the research and creative processes they carried out in Buenos Aires. Their projects address technology, migration, the city, memory and social relations from an artistic and critical perspective.
Buenos Aires: ecologías urbanas — Mikel Otxoteko
Mikel Otxoteko’s project Buenos Aires: ecologías urbanas examines Buenos Aires as a layered system of migratory ecologies. The artist explores how migration flows have transformed the city and its social, economic and cultural structures.
Through five light-based devices, the work proposes a critical cartography of the city, bringing into view the movements, memories and processes of transformation that shape Buenos Aires.
Instrucciones para encender un diálogo — Jaime de los Ríos
Jaime de los Ríos’s project Instrucciones para encender un diálogo focuses on the physical and geopolitical infrastructure of the Internet.
Through ephemeral light sculptures generated from real connections between people, the artist reflects on technology, communication, power and contemporary forms of social interaction. The work seeks to make visible the material infrastructures that sustain digital networks and the political and social relations operating behind them.
Both exhibitions are curated by Helga Massetani and Diana Wechsler and will open on 4 October alongside a third exhibition at MUNTREF. More information about the opening on the UNTREF website.
EAS-EZE: Basque contemporary art in Buenos Aires
EAS-EZE is an international artistic research, production and exchange programme promoted by Bitamine, in collaboration with the Etxepare Basque Institute and MUNTREF.
The programme aims to foster artistic research and production, support the international projection of Basque artists and promote their mobility by creating new contexts for artistic practice and strengthening links between the art scenes of the Basque Country and Argentina.
The 2026 edition marks the tenth edition of EAS-EZE. Jaime de los Ríos and Mikel Otxoteko were selected to develop their artistic projects and subsequently present them in Buenos Aires. More information about EAS-EZE 2026 on the Etxepare Euskal Institutua website.
