Labore, a new international call for residencies in museums in San Sebastián, just launched!

Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.

2015-10-01

The support for artistic creation and the promotion of innovation in this field, are two of the main objectives that have been with Donostia 2016, European Capital of Culture, since the beginning. One of the foundations to achieve this goal are artistic residencies and the implication of the public in the creative processes; and with this goal in mind, the Donostia 2016 Foundation and Donostia Kultura are closely collaborating in the design of the work methodology that enables:

1.- To normalise the presence of artists and creatives at the region´s cultural installations, making it possible for part of these creative processes to take place in these spaces.

2.- To organise artistic mediation activities with the social environment of the installations to create links between creatives, installations and the public.

This context has given rise to Labore, a program developed by Donostia 2016, Donostia Kultura and the Network of Museums of Donostia. The agents in promoting this program will choose projects which will later be developed during residencies; that is, the projects of any of the artistic disciplines will be of a site-specific nature -they will be carried out at the museum assigned to each project- and must propose a reinterpretation or a dialogue with the museum´s collection, its building, its public, its environment or its social context. The registration period to be able to participate in the programme is open and will be closed on 16th November.

The seven museums of Donostia -San Telmo Museoa, Aquarium, Museo Diocesano, Eureka! Zientzia Museoa, the Cemento Rezola Museum, Untzi Museoa-Museo Naval and Museo Real 100- are involved in the Labore programme.
