Liher and Ezpalak will perform at the Suns Europe festival
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
Liher and Ezpalak are the two Basque bands chosen to perform at the 2021 edition of the Suns Europe festival (Udine, Friuli, Italy). Etxepare Euskal Institutua will promote the two Basque proposals. The rest of the artistic program, that you can consult in this link, also includes the film ‘Ane’ (David P. Sañudo, 2020). The performing arts festival that focuses on European minority languages will be held between July 17 and August 22.
In previous editions La Basu, Eneritz Furyak, Kasernarat, Rodeo or Mocker’s have participated in the festival.
Meeting between communities
The word ´suns´ means ´sounds´ in Friulian. Suns Europe began in 2009 as a meeting between minority communities of the Mediterranean Alps, but since 2015 it has been celebrated as we know it now: as a festival that allows the exchange of performing arts, cinema and literature between different minority European cultures.
Its objective is to promote the cultural and creative sectors of small linguistic communities, especially to promote contemporary art that is born from them. That is, unlike other festivals that give voice to minority languages, this one does not conceive these cultures as traditions and folklore, but as a society based on evolution and continuous renewal.
