The 5th edition of Maloba, the International Festival of Theatre, Dance and Circus of the Congo, will be held from 29 April to 6 May 2023 in Brazzaville.

For the first time, a festival will included a Fenêtre Basque (Basque window) section, organized in collaboration with the Etxepare Basque Institute. Two Basque companies will be featured: Ertza and La glo circo. The Maloba Festival Fenêtre Basque will take place from May 1st to 3rd.

Ertza will present ´O tempo diz´. The contrast between the perception of time in Africa and Europe is at the heart of ´O Tempo diz´ (Time tells). The idea originated on a trip that Asier Zabaleta took to Maputo, Mozambique, where he worked with dancers Deissane Machava and Fenias Nhumaio. There will be two performances:

  • 1 May, 6:30pm, Mairie de Kintélé theatre.
  • 3 May, 5:00pm, Institut Français du Congo.

The dance and theatre company La glo circo presents its vertical dance show ´Ensueño´ on the wall of the BCI Grande Poste building. There will be two performances of Gloria Peon´s choreography:

  • 2 May, 4:30pm.
  • 3 May, 4:00pm.

The complete Maloba Festival programme is available at the festival website.
