The Miami Book Fair, a premier literary event, runs this year from 13 to 20 November. On 19 November, at 12:00 noon, author Kirmen Uribe will take part in a round table discussion in Spanish titled ´Realismo y fantasía en la literatura´. Uribe’s participation is sponsored by the Etxepare Basque Institute.
The Basque writer will join three other authors in a conversation with Rosie Inguanzo (´La Habana sentimental´). Uribe will present his novel ´La vida anterior de los delfines´; José Fernández Pequeño will present his book ´Se cortan chazo´, a meeting point of Cuban and Dominican cultures; and Janisset Rivero presents ´Cartas a Pedro´, a love story set in a dystopian world.
Miami Book Fair began as a two-day event in November 1984, when a small group of determined individuals – including educators from Miami Dade College, independent booksellers, and librarians – founded Miami Book Fair International. Since then it has has grown into one of the most significant cultural events in the region and an internationally recognised model of excellence.
Today MBF is both an annual eight-day festival – typically featuring more than 500 authors, 200,000 attendees, 200+ national and international book exhibitors, and a robust schedule of literary, cultural, and educational events, supported by 1,000+ community volunteers – and a provider of a diverse slate of literary-centric programming year-round.
