Qingxu International Folk Art Festival: Gero Axular

The dance group Gero Axular will take part in the Qingxu International Folk Art Festival from October 1 to  7, with support from the Etxepare Basque Institute.

The opening event of Chinese National Day on October 1st October will feature a performance by all the previously selected groups. Several performances on four different stages will take place the remaining days of the festival.

Nine foreign groups will participate in the Qingxu International Folk Art Festival, and the rest will be Chinese groups. In all, there will be more than 170 participants. One of them, Gero Axular, will take the helm of the Basque delegation at the festival.

Gero Axular will represent the Basque Country with a group of nine dantzaris (Basque dancers) between the ages of 18 and 25, accompanied by the group´s musical director, Andoni Iparragirre, costume designer, Gurutze Telleria, and choreographer and director, Juan Luis Unzurrunzaga.

The festival will be held for the first time this year, organised by the Qingxu County Government and the National Association of World Cultures. The festival was created taking the French festival. Les cultures du monde as a reference point. The festival´s objective is to foster cultural exchange, enhance cultural ties among nations, and safeguard the intangible cultural heritage of our world.
