Semaine des Arts et des Médias: ´Faire la parole´

What remains of Basque culture? On March 11th, this question will be discussed at Semaine des Arts et des Médias at the Sorbonne-Nouvelle University in Paris. The presentation and subsequent talk will be on the afternoon of  March 11th from 2:00 to 5:00 at Sorbonne-Nouvelle University, room 49.

The activity will revolve around ´Faire la parole´, a 2015 documentary on Basque culture. Following a presentation and screening of the film will be a round table discussion with the director, Eugène Green. Teresa Larruzea, lecturer in the area of Iberian and Latin American Studies, will lead the symposium.

The seventh edition of Semaine des Arts et des Médias will run from March 7-11. The programme is multidisciplinary and this year it will once again be in person, with the aim of creating a dialogue in the university community.

The documentary portrays the decision of some young people to live in Basque and raises issues such as identity, community, how one lives according to the language he or she speaks, globalisation that standardises culture and tourism that turns culture into a body of popular myth and beliefs.
