Tabakalera-Morpho International Cooperation Call for Proposals published

Artist Sara Ayesa (Donostia, 1997) has been selected in the Tabakalera-Morpho International Call for Collaboration for an artistic residency in Antwerp.
This residency is aimed at artists engaged in artistic activities in the Basque Autonomous Community, Navarre or the French Basque Country (Communauté d´agglomération du Pays Basque) and who wish to broaden their artistic career while exploring and putting into practice new artistic contexts in Morpho (Antwerp, Belgium). The call is organised by Tabakalera and Morpho in collaboration with the Etxepare Basque Institute.
This residency is part of Vlaanderen - Baskenland, the cultural exchange project between Flanders and Euskadi, supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute. Focused on culture, contemporary creation and language, this cultural connection between Flanders and the Basque Country offers a wide range of activities in several disciplines. It also promotes partnerships between cultural players and a network of artists, creators and cultural industries through a rich programme featuring more than a dozen projects in various fields.
The committee, comprising representatives from Morpho and Tabakalera representatives as well as external stakeholders, assessed the project based on the following criteria: innovation and originality, project quality and creativity, project coherence, viability, and capacity to create channels of artistic activity in the context of the Morpho residency programme.
Sara Ayesa (Donostia, 1997) graduated with a degree in Art from the University of the Basque Country (UPV) and the Accademia di Bologna, and completed a Master´s degree in Painting from the UPV. In 2019 she took part in the artists workshop given by Itziar Okariz and Jon Mikel Euba at Tabakalera, and in 2021 in the workshop organised by theSIA as part of the seminar Harri, Orri, Ar at Sala Rekalde. In 2021 her work “Boogity Shu” was displayed at the Juntas Generales de Bizkaia, together with Intza Arakistain.
