The Basque companies Kukai Dantza and Markeliñe have taken part in the FiraTàrrega market
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
The fair FiraTàrrega closed yesterday its 2014 edition, which has been held between September 11-14. Once again, the market has become a meeting point for professionals of the performing arts, and has promoted the internationalization of the companies. This year, the Basque companies Kukai Dantza and Markeliñe have taken part in the market, with the support of the Etxepare Basque Institute, and have taken advantage of the expanding opportunities that the market offers.
Also this year, they have organized the stand Euskal Teatroa of the Basque Government, which has been a showcase for Basque companies, supporting and giving visibility to their works.
Kukai Dantza presented the show "Gelajauziak", created with choreographer Cesc Galabert. This project focuses on two different popular dances: the soinu zarrak from Guipuzkoa and the dantzaz-jauziak form Lapurdi. Two dances, each from a different side of the border, that have lived generation after generation.
Markeliñe, on the other hand, presented the show "Andante”, a mask theater play that tells stories that shouldn’t be forgotten. Anonymous stories of shoes. Shoes that could also be ours.
