Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
The Basque National Orchestra is embarking on another tour outside Euskadi;this will be the orchestra´s sixteenth tour abroad and this time, the destination is the 58th International Festival of Contemporary Music of La Biennale di Venezia. They will offer 2 concert on October 9 and 10 at the Teatro Alle Tesen, directed by José Ramón Encinar. They will perform works by Luis de Pablo, Ramon Lazkano and Gabriel Erkoreka, and they will present the project “Tesela”.
The music festival is the most celebrated in Europe and one of the most relevant contemporary music events internationally. La Biennale di Venezia is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world, bringing together competitions in the areas of cinema, dance, music, theatre and architecture.
The BNO present a special program for both concerts. In the first one, they will represent works by three celebrated Basque composers: Ortzi Isilak, a creation of Ramon Lazkano for clarinet and orchestra; Océano by Gabriel Erkoreka; and Frondoso misterio by Luis de Pablo.
In the second concert, on the other hand, they will present the project “Tesela”: In 2012 8 international composers were asked to compose works inspired in the Basque culture. Until now, the BNO has only represented them individually, but now they will bring the 8 works to Venice, divided in 4 blocks. Between each block or part some “sound bridges” by Mikel Chamizo will be represented: sounds from forests, Maialen Lujanbio and her father singing bertsos (Basque improvised songs), and an improvisation in life of the group Oreka TX.
